Statement from Darcy Schoening on Wheelan Retirement from EPC Public Health,
praise for Commissioner Geitner
“Susan Wheelan, the last vestige of the dark days of COVID, who forced masking on our county’s children and families and shut down our small businesses, is now gone. When freedom-loving patriots, individual liberty advocates and parents pushed back on government overreach in 2020 and 2021, Wheelan and the Public Health office didn’t just ignore them—they actively worked against them. Instead of listening to the people, Wheelan and her staff partnered with the radical left to spread propaganda, which in many cases, as we now know with President Trump’s election, was funded by our own federal, state and local tax dollars.
As an El Paso County resident myself who lived through the contrived pandemic, our community was crushed by the mandates of Wheelan and the Democrats. Kids were forcefully masked and isolated, small businesses mandated to close while big box stores thrived, our most elderly isolated from loved ones and families torn apart by government overreach. While some may praise her, never forget that Wheelan and her allies used fear to strip away our rights. And while some El Paso County elected officials celebrate her retirement, we remember her legacy for what it truly was—tyranny disguised as “safety” through imposed mandates, all the while refusing to acknowledge the damage she caused.
But in the darkness, the light has shone through. I want to thank and acknowledge Commissioner Carrie Geitner who rightfully and publicly denounced Wheelan’s authoritarian actions during COVID on Tuesday. Geitner has consistently fought for personal freedom and against government tyranny, and just as important, accountability. Thank you.
We must never forget those who masked our kids, forced our elderly to die alone and used government power to harm our community. And we must never stop fighting to elect principled Republicans who uphold our Constitutional rights and fight for a government for the people.”

Statement from GOP Chair Candidate Darcy Schoening on Colorado Medical Entities Restarting Destructive Gender Affirming Care
"The recent decision by Denver Health and Children’s Hospital Colorado to resume so-called ‘gender-affirming care’ for minors is a direct attack on parental rights, medical ethics and the long-term health of vulnerable children.
These dangerous procedures—many of which cause irreversible harm—ignore the critical need for proper mental health treatment and dismiss growing evidence that medical transitioning leads to long-term physical and psychological damage. Rather than providing science-based, compassionate care, these hospitals have chosen to push a radical agenda at the expense of our children’s well-being.
We thank President Trump for standing up for our children through his January 28th executive order aimed at protecting minors from chemical and surgical mutilation. His leadership proves that Republicans from the White House down are willing to fight for the most vulnerable. However, in Colorado, far-left extremists like Attorney General Phil Weiser are doing everything they can to drag our children back into a system that prioritizes ideology over their health and safety. These radical politicians want to strip parents of their rights, silence opposition, and force dangerous policies onto our families—and we must not let them succeed.
This fight is about protecting children, restoring parental authority, and holding medical institutions accountable for the irreversible damage they are inflicting. As Chair of the Colorado GOP, I will ensure that Republicans at every level push back against this extremism and fight for policies that actually safeguard children, not endanger them.”

Schoening Responds to RFK confirmation, promises kept with Libertarian Party partners
MONUMENT, Colo. – Darcy Schoening, candidate for Chair of the Colorado Republican Party, issued the following statement today regarding the U.S. Senate’s confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., to serve as President Trump’s Secretary for Health and Human Services:
"I want to congratulate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. on his confirmation as President Trump’s next Secretary of Health and Human Services. This appointment is a testament to President Trump’s continuing commitment to restoring transparency, accountability and medical freedom to our nation’s healthcare system.
Just as important, this is also a promise made and a promise kept to our libertarian friends both across the country and here in Colorado. President Trump’s selection of Secretary Kennedy underscores the growing alliance between the Libertarian and Republican Parties — an alliance I am proud to have played a significant role in strengthening throughout Colorado through the partnerships forged based on our shared principles and beliefs. By continuing to work together on issues of individual liberty, government accountability and healthcare reform, we have worked to find common ground and have built a coalition that puts the rights of Americans first.
I look forward to seeing Secretary Kennedy bring much-needed reform to HHS, and I am proud to stand with those in both the Republican and Libertarian movements who champion freedom, choice, accountability and transparency in government."

Colorado GOP Chair Candidate Darcy Schoening Secures More Than $150,000 For ‘BoB’ Initiative
MONUMENT, Colo. – In a historic first for a Colorado Republican Party chair candidate, seasoned GOP operative and parental rights advocate Darcy Schoening has secured more than $150,000 in pledges from several, prominent conservative donors.
The donors, seven successful business owners and Republican activists found throughout the Pikes Peak Region, have agreed to sign onto Schoening’s “Build Our Bench” Initiative. Known simply as “BoB,” the initiative aims to focus and direct state party resources to targeted local races, to include backing school board and city council candidates, as well as initiatives that protect children and support working class Coloradans.
Working in conjunction with both county Republican parties and identified campaigns, as well as aligned organizations, Schoening said the Colorado GOP will showcase the importance of Republican efforts at the neighborhood level.
“My campaign team and I are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support for the Build Our Bench program,” Schoening said. “These pledges are a recognition from donors on the critical importance of building a strong Republican foundation at the community level where so many key policy decisions are made that affect our children, our families, and every day way of life. Through the BoB Initiative, we will ensure our candidates have the tools they need to compete and win, delivering conservative leadership to neighborhoods all across Colorado.”
Schoening hinted that further financial commitments were anticipated soon.
“The conversations I continue to have with many of our prominent backers remain consistent each time: the long-term damage Democrat policies have done to our beautiful state is atrocious and undeniable, and we have to fight back,” Schoening said. “And I have a history of doing exactly that. And will continue to do so as our next Republican Party chair.”

Schoening Reacts to President Trump’s Nomination of Former Space Force Guardian
Lohmeier to Undersecretary for the Air Force
MONUMENT, Colo. – Darcy Schoening, candidate for Chair of the Colorado Republican Party, issued the following statement regarding President Donald J. Trump’s nomination of Air Force Academy graduate and former Space Force Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier to serve as Undersecretary for the Air Force:
“President Trump’s nomination of Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier to this critical national security position is a bold and decisive step toward restoring much-needed integrity and focus to our armed forces. As an Air Force Academy graduate and decorated officer, Colonel Lohmeier embodies the courage, leadership, and dedication to our nation’s defense that this role demands. His nomination is a clear signal the days of a politicized military are coming to an end.”
“Having leaders like Colonel Lohmeier have been challenging to come by. While we’ve seen career officers like General Mark Milley adopt misguided ‘DEI’ practices while shying away from making pointed assessments, Colonel Lohmeier stood in the gap, speaking out about encroaching Marxist views seeping into our military establishment. He looked out not only for his fellow Guardians, but the American people, and the bureaucrats in Washington punished him for it. His commitment to the values of service, discipline and patriotism makes him uniquely qualified to help steer our Air Force — and our entire military — back on track.”
“As we face an increasingly dangerous world, with countries such as Russia and China showing more aggression, it’s essential our military leadership be composed of individuals who understand the mission and have the courage to lead decisively. Together with soon-to-be Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Colonel Lohmeier is exactly the kind of leader we need to strengthen our national defense and inspire our men and women in uniform who protect our nation every day.”
Parental Rights Advocate, Seasoned GOP Leader Darcy Schoening
Announces Campaign for Colorado Republican Party Chair
MONUMENT, Colo. – The following is a statement from Darcy Schoening, Director of Special Initiatives for the Colorado Republican Party:
“For far too long, Colorado Republicans have suffered loss after loss – whether through the ballot box, or the loss of our values and freedoms. I joined the Colorado GOP more than a year ago as the Director of Special Initiatives, a role created to help protect Colorado families from the ongoing destruction caused by the increasingly leftist lurch of the Colorado legislature and their leader, Governor Polis. In that time, this position has been built from the ground up through hard work and dedication with one, central goal in mind: fight for Colorado by way of local policy, outreach, and initiatives important to Republicans and Colorado families.
In the time I’ve served in this role, together with the push for expanded local autonomy and parental advocacy that I have spearheaded, I’ve played an important role in advancing conservative values throughout our great state. And in these travels, the need to find those willing to roll up their sleeves, bring people together, and fight for Colorado has never been more apparent. I proudly stand in that gap; in fact, I live there - and I love it.
I am therefore announcing my candidacy for Chair of the Colorado Republican Party. Colorado Republicans can rest assured the principles and values they hold so dearly will always have a committed fighter to back them up, day in and day out. And Colorado Democrats are now on notice - as Chair, I promise you will continually be challenged with your desires to tear down traditional families, harm our children and further erode our freedoms.
This decision was easy for me; advancing conservative values is never work; it is a passion. Over the coming weeks, I’m excited to take my case to our county Republican Parties as well as State Central Committee members, laying out my vision for solidifying our gains, expanding conservative ideals, and further detailing how we will build bridges that bring Republicans together to renew our shared purpose of advancing our beliefs.
